The functionality CloneApp has to offer comes in handy if you want to reinstall Windows on your PC. What it does is it lets you back up application settings and thus restore applications to the way they were before the Windows reinstall.

Here’s how things go. You install Microsoft’s Windows operating system, install all sorts of applications on it, and configure said applications to best suits your needs. But after a while, your PC gets sluggish, so you decide to reinstall Windows. When you’re done with the operating system, you’ll have to reinstall your applications and reconfigure them. It is, to be honest, a bit annoying and time consuming. You’ll waste time on reinstalling the operating system, you’ll waste time on reinstalling your applications, and you’ll waste time on reconfiguring said applications.

But, by using Mirinsoft’s CloneApp, you won’t have to waste time on reconfiguring your applications. As mentioned at the start of this article, CloneApp lets you back up program settings and thus restore programs to the way they were before the Windows reinstall. It backs up configuration files from application directories and from the Registry; after reinstalling Windows, you can use these to restore your applications to their former configuration.

It will take very little time to get started with CloneApp. That’s because you won’t have to install it. To get started with this Mirinsoft tool, you will have to download an archive, extract its contents, and run the CloneApp executable. Obviously, the fact that CloneApp does not have to be installed makes it portable.

CloneApp’s interface is very easy to navigate; there’s a panel on the left hand side that you can use to browse through all the sections. Said interface provides support for two view modes: Day and Night. You can switch from one view mode to another by using the buttons from the top right hand corner.

CloneApp is free for personal use only. You may use the software for non-commercial purposes only.

Back up application settings. Then, after reinstalling Windows, use the backup to restore applications to their original configuration.

Pros

CloneApp is a portable application; it does not have to be installed. CloneApp’s easy to navigate interface provides support for two view modes: Day and Night Mode. Use CloneApp to back up configuration files from application directories and from the Registry. CloneApp is free for personal use.

Cons

At the time of writing this, CloneApp is a Beta. And Betas, I have to remind you, tend to be buggy.
